Variational calculation of energy spectra of rotational nuclei at high spins

Journal Article · · Nucl. Phys., A, v. A215, no. 2, pp. 366-382

The energy spectra of /sup 162/Er and /suo 168/Yb were calculated using the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory and the self-consistent cranking model. The recently discovered anomaly of the spectra at high spins is found to arise from both a reduction of the energy gap and a realignment of the angular momenta of paired nucleons in a high j single-particle state due to the Coriolis anti- pairing effect.
