High precision measurements of the nuclear magnetic dipole moments of $sup 6$Li, $sup 7$Li, $sup 39$K, and $sup 41$K
From spring meeting of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft on atomic and molecular physics; Munich, Germany (2 Apr 1973). The field-independent transitions DELTA m (J) = 0, DELTA m(I) = 1 in the /sup 2/S/sub 1/2 ground state were measured for the alkali isotopes /sup 6/Li, / sup 7/Li, /sup 39/K, / sup 41/K of magnetic fields from 2.5 to 3 KOe by means of the triple resonance method and the technique of separated rf fields. From these measurements, the ratio g(I)/g(J) was determined with a relative accuracy better than 10/sup -6/. Using g(J) factors that were calibrated by the g(J) value of the free electron, the g(I) factors can be determined with ari absolute accuracy of 10/sup -6/. From comparison with NMR measurements the diamagnetic shielding of positive alkali ions by H/sub 2/O molecules is obtained. (GE)
