Radioactive iodine (/sup 131/I) is easily obtained by heating, a temperature preferably ranging from 400 to 700 deg C, tellurium trioxide, which was irradiated with a neutron flux. Thus, the complicated operations required in a conventional process for separation and/or purification of the product are eliminated. (Official Gazette)
