Xenon chambers and their applications

The possibility of using liquid xenon for filling detectors for gamma quanta and high energy electrons was examined. The advantages of the xenon chamber in comparison with NaI(Tl) counters are noted. Data on the physical propenties of liquid xenon at T = -109 deg C and of NaI(Tl) crystals were tabulated. It was shown that by means of such detectors, reactions in which some pi /sup 0/ mesons are formed can be studied. (tr-auth)
