The thyroid examination with simultaneous administration of /sup 131/I and /sup 99m/Tc is reported. For iodine uptake and iodine metabolism an amount of 4 to 10 mu Ci /sup 131/I is applied, for scintigraphy 0.5 to 1.0 mCd /sup 99mTc-pertechnetate. Six hundred and four examinations were made according to this method and compared with the same number of examinations being made with / sup 131/I only. These are the advantages of thyroid examination with simultaneous administration of /sup 99m/Tc and /sup 131/I: low exposure to the patient; high informa tion value of the scintigrain; enlarged possibility of thyroid examination with iodine blocked thyroids; and time saving. A recommendation of this method seems to be justified. (auth)
