Blood coagulation in patients with toxic goiter (in Russian)

Data are presented on the study of blood coagulation in 128 patients with toxic goiter--- mild, moderately severe, and severe forms before and after mercazolyl (mild) and /sup 131/I (moderately severe and severe) treatment. Signs of reduction of blood coagulative activity and an increase of fibrinolytic activity, and heparin, which elevated in parallel with the clinical severity of the disease were revealed in the patients with toxic goiter before the beginning of the treatment. Following prolonged mercazolyl therapy blood coagulative capacity in patients with toxic goiter increased; at the height of /sup 131/I action signs of hypocoagulation became elevated; this was confirmed by parameters of thromboelastography, a reduced content of fibrinogen, of fibrin-stabilizing factor, and increased heparin content, a high fibrinolytic activity, and a rise of urinary urokinase. Coagulative blood potential increased considerably, heparin fell, and urokinase and fibrinolytic activity decreased after recovery from toxic goiter. (auth)
