Medium-sized neon--helium streamer chamber

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instrum. Methods, v. 113, no. 2, pp. 247-251
The construction of a streamer chamber of size 60 x 60 x 12.5 cm/sup 3/ is described. The high-voltage pulse is derived from a Marx generator, which is used to charge up an intermediate capacitor. This capacitor has a water dielectric and is of low inductance, so that it can be quickly discharged to produce the short pulse required for the streamer chamber. Measurement of the pulse is by means of a capacitance probe attached to the earth electrode of he pseudo-coaxial system. The streamer length and diameter istributions are discussed. (auth)
