A consortium of utilities led by the Southern California Edison Company (SCE) in cooperation with the US Department of Energy (DOE) has converted the existing Solar One Power Tower Pilot Plant to molten nitrate salt technology. A previous report provided an overview of the project [Chavez, et al.]. Construction activities are complete and the plant is now into the startup and commissioning phase. This report serves as an update on Solar Two project experience to-date in the resurrection of the Solar One plant and incorporation of new molten nitrate salt technology into this plant.
