Stannous pyrophosphate labeled with technetium-99m for skeletal scintigraphy

Methods for the preparation of /sup 99m/Tc-labeled stannous pyrophosphate complex are described. Preliminary studies on rats, mice, and human patierts indicate that 45% of radioactivity is quickly fixed by bone and 35% is excreted in urine within three hours following injection. It is concluded that bone scanning using /sup 99m/Tclabeled stannous pyrophosphate may be useful for the localization of suspected bone metastases from neoplasms. (CH)
