Uranium in interstitial waters of marine and oceanic sediments (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Geokhimiya, no. 10, pp. 1529-1536
OSTI ID:4381126

Uranium content in interstitial waters from sediments of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Black Sea varies from 1.3 to 650 x 10/sup -6/ g/l, which confirms the relative diagenetic uranium mobility. To the factors determining uranium content in interstitial waters belong: pH, Eh, the U and C/ sub org/ content in sediments, the content of dissolved organic matters, and CO/ sub 2/ in interstitial waters. The dependence of uranium content in interstitial waters upon C/sub org/ in sediments permits the assumption that some of the dissolved uranium is present in the form of metalloorganic complexes.
