Elastic scattering of 15 MeV deuterons

Journal Article · · Nucl. Phys., A, v. A218, no. 3, pp. 504-508
Differertial cross sections and vector and tensor analyzing powera of 15- MeV deuterons elastically scattered by /sup 52/Cr, /sup 90/Zr and /sup 122/Sn were analyzed in terms of an optical potential containing a tensor term T/sub R/. Neglecting any tensor interactions the differential cross section and vector analyzing power data were well reproduced but only qualitative agreement was obtained with the corresponding tensor analyzing power measurements. The inclusion of a T/sub R/ potential only slightly improved the fits to the tensor data. The quantity T/sub 21/ was found to impose greater restrictions than T/sub 20/ and T/sub 22/ on the parameters of the T/sub R/ potential. It app ears that the conventional optical model has some difficulty in providing an overall description of the data. (auth)
