S>A process is described for the fabrication of fuel rods for nuclear reactors in which the nuclear fuel is introduced into a jacket closed on one end by a welded plug and finally closed by means of another sealed plug in such a manner that it is gas-tight. The bands of solder that join the end plugs to the jacket are introduced by means of a plasma or microplasma process. (TSS)
