Generation of High-Power Light Pulses at Wavelengths 1.06 and 0.53 μ and Their Application in Plasma Heating. II. Neodymium-Glass Laser with a Second-Harmonic Converter

The results are given of calorimetric, time, spectral, and polarization measurements of radiation reflected back from a plasma heated by nanosecond laser pulses of lambda =1.06 and 0.53 V at power densities exceeding 1014 W/cm2 at the target surface. Finally, it is shown that the absorption of the lambda =0.53 V radiation by a plasma is three times as strong as the absorption of the lambda 1.06 V radiation.
