A discussion of the electromagnetic field in the gauge theory of gravitation. Specifically, it points out that under the assumption of U(1) gauge invariance of the electromagnetic field, the equations are of identical form as the general theory, of relativity; and the dynamic spin flow of the electromagnetic field is zero; hence in the gravitational field, light still propagates along the zero geodesic. However, the interference of the gravitational field will produce such effects as light refraction and shift of the red spectral line. (JPRS)
