The introductory statement by Congressman Mike McCormack was read at the overview panel meeting. Dr. H. Guyford Stever was the initial witness of the representatives of the NSF to present a statement. The speakers covered all facets of energy technology. NSF objectives are to analyze the intermediate and long-range problems associated with energy. The programs in energy conversion stress increased efficiency in converting energy from the forms in which it occurs in nature to forms that are cleaner and more convenient to use. The NSF was elected as the government agency to take the lead in research in solar energy. A statement was included that dealt with the participation of NASA in the NSF/ RANN program. (MCW)
