Dynamic analysis of missile impact protection for reinforced concrete slabs

Conference ·
OSTI ID:4374953

In structural design of nuclear power plant facilities. Methods of dynamic analysis of missile impact on simple target structures are presented with the aid of empirical penetration formulas and the integral equation first introduced for the dynamic response of beams under lateral impact. In general, the impaot forcing function depends on the penetration depth, missile's impact velocity, as well as the response and vibration characteristics of the target structure involved. The conditions under which the impacted targets will experience collapse are formulated, using an equivalent one-degree-of-freedom model. Also, the effects of distributed pressure on the plastic behavior of the targets are discussed and the possibility of establishing the so called punching shear criterion for missile impact mentioned.
