Gauge field theory

Book ·
OSTI ID:4373770
From international symposium on electron and photon interactions at high energies; Bonn, Germany (27 Aug 1973). A review is given on the formal aspects of gauge field theory. Stanting with the problem of asymptotic freedom, arguments are given for a gauge field theory of strong interactions. Then higher order effects of the weak interaction, the present status of the proof of renormalizability of gauge field theory and the definition of physical particles a la Kibble is discussed. Finally, the question of the validity of PCAC and of low energy theorems is considered. A historical review of the subject, serving at the same time as a bibliography, is presented in an appendix.
