Following a general survey of the mineral and fuel resources of the Chinese Mainland, a review is given of the overall economic development of the People' s Republic of China. The development of the coal industry and the mineral, oil, and natural gas industries, as well as the economic utilization of water power and the devellopmental state of the nuclear industry are dealt with in detail. The existing fuel and energy resources and their effect on the siting of industrial plants and on transpontation in general are discussed. Data on important coal, mineral, oil and natural gas deposits are shown in numerous tables. (GE)
