High-accuracy, two-dimensional read-out in multiwire proportional chambers

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instrum. Methods, v. 113, no. 3, pp. 381-385

By measuring the center of gravity of the pulses induced on cathode strips in a multiwire proportional chamber it is shown that a good two-dimensional accuracy can be reached, of the order of 150 μm. Applications for two-dimensional read-out in drift chambers or low energy X-ray mapping are discussed.
