A search is reported for 1.24 sec. pulsed emission above l00 keV from the binary x-ray source Hercules X-1. The observations were made from a balloon flight on February 19, 1972, from Palestine, Texas, at a float altitude of approximates 129,000 ft., using an unshielded Nal(Tl) detector: since the detector was omnidirectional the experiment was sensitive only to pulsating sources. No evidence was found for a pulsed emission. A 2 sigma upper limit of 3.4 x 10/sup -3/ photons/cm/sup 2//sec. for a pulsed emission, in the 0.1 to 10 MeV energy interval, was obtained. (UK)
