When a beam current approaches the order of magnitude of the current in the cavity, the voltage and the phase of the cavity are affected by beam loading. The particles, governed by synchrotron oscillations, would fill ''the bucket'' uniformly and the density of particles in terms of the phase relative to the R.F. voltage can be expressed as the formula written in the paper. The effects of the beam current on the cavity mainly depend on the first Fourier components of the current.
