High-resolution radio continuum observations of bright spiral galaxies at 1415 MHz: a general discussion

Journal Article · · Astron. Astrophys., v. 29, no. 2, pp. 263-275
OSTI ID:4361986
This paper is a discussion of the radio continuum observations at 1415 MHz of a large set of bright spiral galaxies with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope. In earlier papers in this series the flux densities of the central radio source, the spiral arm component and the base disk component were determined. From the latter two the compression strengths'' of the density waves were determined. These, the 14l5 MHz luminosities of the nucleus and the average face-on brightness temperature of the basic disks are tabulated together with various other properties of the galaxies. (WDM)
