Graphs of insoluble residue vs gamma activity of the subject material were shown to be linear. Curves of natural gamma activity made from well logging and changes in insoluble residue with depth in general agreed well and confirmed the linear dependence. Deviations from linearity were found when the material contained sulfate or chloride. (TTT)
