Performance of the SLAC streamer chamber

In streamer chamber technology. The past, present, and future uses of the SLAC streamer chamber system are discussed. Descriptions of the various experiments are given along with the hydrogen targets, the Marx generator and the Blumleins. The relative successes and failures of the various components are discussed and illustrative photographs of events are presented. The operating characteristics of the system are also presented with particular attention given to the problem of flares. (auth)
