Investigation of hyperfine interactions in samarium--cobalt compounds by the Moessbauer method

Journal Article · · Sov. Phys.-Solid State (Engl. Transl.), v. 15, no. 1, pp. 223-224

The compounds Sm/sub 2/Co/sub 17/, SmCo/sub 5/, Sm/sub 2/Co/sub 7/, SmCo/ sub 3 /, and SmCo/sub 2/ were doped with /sup 57/Fe. The isomeric shifts all are close to one another, indicating ideniical electron configurations of the Fe atoms in all positions. The positions at which the number of Sm atoms near Fe varies are: 9(d) in Sm/sub 2/Co/sub 17/ (2 Sm atoms); 18(h) in Sm/sub 2/Co/sub 17/ (3 Sm atoms); 3(d) in SmCo/sub 5/ (4 Sm atoms); 18(h) in Sm/ sub 2/Co/sub u/ (5 Sm atoms). The effective magnetic field at /sup 57/Fe is plotted versus the number of Sm atoms near Fe. The line intensities differed from the populations. The magnetic moments of the Co atoms are parallel to each other. (DLC)
