Nonlinear saturation of the relativistic beam-plasma instability in the presence of ion density fluctuations

The effect of finite ion density fluctuations driven by return current instabilities on the nonlinear saturation level of the relativistic beam-plasma instability is calculated for cases of experimental interest. The effect of initial plasma temperature is also discussed. (auth)
