Contribution to the spectrophotometric determination of uranium in the presence of thorium (in German)

For uranium determination in the presence of excess thorium ions, a method was elaborated with arsenazo III as reagent. The Th/sup 4+/ reaction with the coloring agent was masked through the addition of triethylenetetramine- N,N,N',N'',N''',N'''-hexaacetic acid in a medium of 0.6 M NaCl and 0.5 M chloracetic acid buffer at pH 2.1. Under these conditions, uranium could be determined in the presence of a two thousand-fold thorium excess. (tr-auth)
