  1. Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Oak Ridge, TN (United States)
The effect of uniform slurry settling on reactivity in one-region thorium breeder reactors of economic interest was investigated. The fuel considered was a mixed slurry of UO2 and ThO2 suspended in D2O. It was found that when settling occurred, thermal reactors of possible economic interest (10 to 12 ft diameter containing 200 to 300 g Th/liter) became subcritical.
