Cross-sections of a cylindrical antenna for gravitational waves

The possibility is considered that if gravitational waves exist they might generate, in a cylindrical antenna, longitudinal vibrations other than axial (or in addition to them). The cross section of a gravitational wave with a cylinder vibrating in such a nadial mode is computed and a comparison is made with that for axial vibrations. (LBS)
