Acoustic emission source location on a nonspherical surface

From summer acoustic emission working group meeting; Richland, Washington, USA (l8 Jul 1973). A procedure was developed and programmed to determine the location of an acoustic emission signal generated on a nonspherical surface, based on the arrival times of the signal at five transducers. The accuracy of this procedure was checked for the special case of a sphere and was found to be far in excess of the discrimination that can probably be achieved by the associated electronics in an actual system.
