Heat expansion of tetraborides of some rare earth metals (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Porosh. Met., Akad. Nauk Ukr. SSR, no. 12, pp. 72-74
OSTI ID:4350758
Yttrium, gadolinium, holmium, and erbium tetraborides are obtained by means of boron reduction of oxides of the corresponding metals in vacuum at temperatures 1800 to 2000 deg C. Compact samples were obtained by means of sintering at 2150 deg C in vacuum. Heat expansion is investigated on the samples within the range of temperatures 20 to 1000 deg C. Debye temperatures and temperatures of melting of the compounds under study are estimated by using the data of heat expansion coefficients. (auth)
