Book ·
OSTI ID:4350722
From international nuclear industries fair; Basel, Switzerland (16 Oct 1972). The main features and advantages of direct cycle helium gas turbines integrated with a high temperature reactor are presented. The proposed design concept is based on a logical extension of existirg knowledge and experience on currently built gas cooled reactors and industrial gas turbines. The direct cycle gas turbine offers many advantages in the form of high reliability, safety and simplicity; it emerges as a potential competitor to the main power generation prime mover, the steam turbine.
