HEAT TRANSFER IN CHANNELS COMPOSED OF ROUGH AND SMOOTH SURFACES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4350111
Measurements of the heat transfer and fluid flow properties of a rough surface are conveniently made on a roughened rod placed centrally in a smooth channel. Such experimental data cannot be applied directly to most fuel element assemblies, since the shape of the passages and the proportion of rough to smooth surfaces will be different. A method of transforming the experimental results so that they may be applied to certain types of fuel element assembly is proposed. (auth)
