S>Ionic Analyses. An automatic titration method for the determination of iodides and chlorides in the presence of their oxyhalide salts was investigated. Work was continued on the automatic titration of U and Pu. Radiochemical Analyses. Progress is reponted on Cd ratios for pile neutron capture to produce 225 d Ag/sup 110/, assay of low energy BETA emitters, Cd in vinylite resin, analysis of radioisotopes, analysis for heavy elements (Po/sup 84/ to Cm/sup 96/), identification of radioelements, and ion exchange and Chromathgraphy in radiochemical analysis. Spectrochemical Analysis. Speetrochemical methods were developed for performing the following porous cup technique: Ta in Nb, As in Ca, Ge in Cu, Zn in Cu, Mn in Be, Zm in H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/, Sn in H/sub 2/SO/sub 4/, and Y in Ca solution. Radiochemical Analysis. The HRE solutions were analyzed for total U. U/sup 4+/, Cr, Te, Cl/sup -/, S, and pH. Various other samples were submitted for analysis. Inorganic Preparations. Preparation of the following inorganic compounds are reported: thorium fluosilicate and related compounds; metallic Ni; Mn/sub 2/Sb; ferrous oxide; cobaltous fluosilicate; calcium fluosilicate; and lithium compounds. Optical and Electron Microscopy. An investigation of the micro characteristics of multilayer films found on pretreated stainless steel before and after inmersion in O.17M UO/ sub 2/SO/sub 4/ solution containing O.1M HNO/sub 3/ at 250 deg C is presented.
