Recent developments in the radiation chemistry of pyrimidine bases in aqueous solutions

Journal Article · · Radiat. Res. Rev., v. 4, no. 4, pp. 301-339
OSTI ID:4347360
A review is given of the recent developments in three areas of pyrimidine radiation chemistry: structural studies of the initially formed transients, mechanisms of product formation, and effects of micelle-forming surfactants. Data compilations on the available rate constants and G values are provided. The discussion is limited to investigations of uracil, substituted uracils (e.g.; 5halouracils, orotic acid, and thymine) and cytosine in dilute aqueous solutions. (JSR)
