Title: Nuclear EMP: cable shielding effectiveness testing

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4345973

An improved method of measuring shielding effectiveness of cables against EMP is presented. This method consists of a quadraxial cylindrical test fixture which contains a current probe around the test specimen that forms the center conductor of a terminated coaxial system within a signal tube and the outer guard line. Braid angle, optical coverage, wire size, braid material, and cable length were parameters of a braid sheath investigated. Summary data curves are included. Conclusions indicate a repeatable method of testing shielding effectiveness over wide ranges of frequencies up to 100 MHz and for long cable specimens. Some references up to year 1970 are included.
