THE ENERGY SPECTRUM OF He$sup 3$ DISSOLVED IN He II

Journal Article · · Soviet Phys. (Doklady)
OSTI ID:4345812
It has been shown that an experimentul study of the temperature dependence of the cortribution of the impurity to the density of the normal component of He II allows the form of the energy spectrum to be established uadquely. For this purpose the density of the normal component of a solution of He/sup 3/ in He/sup 4/ with a 3.0% concentration of He/sup 3/ was measured. The temperature dependence of the normal component density was also measured. The effective mass of He/sup 3/ was calculated to be 2.6 m/sup 3/ in good agreement with previous results. Conclusions regarding the character of the energy spectrum agree with conclusions derived from measurements of the velocity of second sound in solution of helium isotopes. (J.S.R.)
