Models for the Balmer lines in DA white dwarfs with large magnetic fields have been computed under simplifying assumptions. It appears that the interpretation of the wavelengih shifts is not simple different parts of the line give significantly different shifts. The wavelength shifts depend also on the geometry of the magnetic field. (auth)
