Angular distribution of radiation scattered from a phantom exposed to 10 to 50 kVp roentgen rays

Journal Article · · Acta Radiol., Ther., Phys., Biol., v. 11, no. 6, pp. 593-602
The radiation scattered from an anthropomorphic phantom irradiated by roentgen ray beams of energy 10 to 50 kVp has been measured. The variation of the scattered radiation with scattering angle, photon energy, and field size are discussed. Caution is needed in interpreting permissible regulations relating to low energy rays contained in Codes of Practice. The approximations used to estimate the magnitude of scattered radiation for radiation of high energy are not always valid for radiation of low energy. (auth)
