Electrophoretic deposition of coatings onto beryllia tubes

Declassified 26 Nov 1973. A project to adapt the process of electrophoretic deposition to use for coating the bores of beryllia tubes is described. The use of aluminum and graphite films for rendering the surface of an insulating material into an electrical conductor is described. The apparatus developed and the methods for preparing the necessary suspensions are described. A comparison of three different forms of the zirconia--yttria coating material is made. Coated tubes are evaluated both for coating qualities and their resistance to water vapor attack. (auth)
