Fatigue-crack propagation in unirradiated and irradiated ASTM A533-B steel at low cyclic frequency

Journal Article · · Journal of Nuclear Materials
Unirradiated and irradiated (5.3 -- 5.7 x 1019n/cm2, E> 1.0 MeV) A533-B class 1 steel was fatigue cycled in air at 1 cpm and 75 and 550 deg F. Results, compared with data for 600 cpm, indicate that there is no effect of cyclic frequency in unirradiated material, . although in the irradiated material the crack growth rate is slightly higher at 1 cpm than at 600 cpm. It is concluded that neither frequency nor temperature has a significant effect in air, in contrast to that in hot water.
