Destructive burnup determination of reactor fuel elements (in German)

Journal Article · · Kernenergie, v. 16, no. 12, pp. 362-369
OSTI ID:4340040
The main definitions of burnup as a quantity and their mutual conversion as well as aim and importance of burnup investigations are elucidated. The fundamental principles of burnup determination from the depletion of heavy metal atoms, the change of heavy metal isotopic composition, and the content of stable and radioactive fission products are given. Special problems occurring with fast breeder reactor fuels and high temperature reactor have been pointed out. (46 references) (auth)
