A short, 2-in diam helicon source has been constructed for operation at magnetic fields below 50 G. The source was inspired by previous observations of a density peak and good coupling at fields so low that the helicon-ECR branch of the helicon wave dispersion relation can be excited. The plasma generated in the source is injected into a large chamber with or without a multi-dipole magnetic bucket, and density profiles are measured with a PMT FastProbe. The peak plasma density and density uniformity will be reported under various conditions of frequency, pressure, magnetic field, and antenna configuration.
