A general method of determining upper confidence limits for the failure probability of any combination of components when the failure history of the individual components is kmown is provided. The assunnptions made are that failures are independent and follow a binomial distribution. The relation between systems of upper confidence limits and operating characteristic curves for acceptamce testing by attributes is also described. (auth)
