THE PREPARATION OF URANIUM TRIOXIDE BY THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF URANYL NITRATE

A comparison has been made between the uranium trioxides prepared by thermal decomposition of uranyl nitrate and of ammonium diuranate. An attempt has been made to follow the course of the denitration reaction, and physical properties of the material at various stages in the decomposition have been measured. Good decontamination from ruthenium has been obtained during decomposition of the nitrate. (auth)
