SOME REMARKS ON K-MESON DECAYS

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The standpoint that the K yields mu (e) + v and the K/sup 0/ yields pi + pi interactions are the primary weak interactions responsible for all K- meson decays is investigated in detail. The significance of this standpoint is discussed in connection with the true elementarity of the so called elementary particles. It is shown that this model necessarily requires the existence of two spin zero K mesons which are degenerate in parity. The direct experimental tests of tbe primarity of K yields mu (e) + nu interactions in the K/sub mu 3/ and K/sub e3/ decays are mentioned. The evaluation of the branching ratios of K meson decays in this model and the estimate of the magnitude of the strength of the KK pi -interaction are made. The comparison with the standpoint thnt the weak Fermi interaction is primary is discussed and it is inferred that the latter is more promising. (auth)
