Zirconium alloy pressure tubes: the pressure vessels of CANDU reactors

The fabrication and testing of Zr-2 and Zr-Nb pressure tubes are summarized. Design data for CANDU type reactors and pressure tubes are given together with mechanical and corrosion properties of the zirconium alloys. Briefly discussed are in-service inspection to determine creep, corrosion, and wear of internal surfaces, the quality and testing of end-fittings and calandria tubes, and future developments in pressure tubing.
