Current and conductance characteristics have been obtained for Nb/sub 3/ (Al/sub 0.75/Ge/sub 0.25/) barrier Pb/sub 0.7/Bi/sub 0.3/ superconducti ng tunneling junctions prepared on Nb/sub 3/ (Al/sub 0.75/Ge/sub 0.25/) ribbon substrates. Therma l oxide, anodized, and amorphous carbon tunneling barriers were used. These junctions are relatively fragile: they deteriorate under temperature recycling or sustained bias. Typical junction resistances are of the order of 50 OMEGA , and 2 DELTA (0) of Nb/sub 3/(Al/sub 0.75/ Ge/sub 0 .25/) is approximates 1.3 MeV. (auth)
