THE FLUORIDES OF URANIUM. I. LIQUID-VAPOUR EQUILIBRIA IN THE SYSTEMS URANIUM HEXAFLUORIDE-CHLORINE TRIFLUORIDE AND URANIUM HEXAFLUORIDE-BROMINE PENTAFLUORIDE

Journal Article · · J. Inorg. & Nuclear Chem.

The system uranium hexafluoride-- chlorine trifluoride exhibits complete miscibility in the liquid phase at 67 deg C but partial miscibility at 75 deg C over a limited composition range. No azeotropes exist in this system. The system uranium hexafluoride-- bromine pentafluoride exhibits complete miscibility over the range 68 to 80 deg C and has a single maximum vapor pressure azeotrope at a composition corresponding to a mole fraction of 0.1 of uranium hexafluoride, approximately.
