Activation and decay tables of radioisotopes

Book ·
OSTI ID:4334446
With increased use of radioisotopes in science and industry, the calculation of the activity of a sample irradiated by thermal neutrons and the rate of decay has become a routine task. This book facilitates such calculations by means of tables. The activation and decay data presented include half-lives and gamma-ray energies and intensities of 249 radioisotopes formed by the (n, gamma ) reaction on 173 stable isotopes of 80 elements. Explanations of the tables and examples of how to use them are included. (RWR) An evaluation of three NAA techniques for mercury analysis in coal has been presented with special emphasis given to the use of a 18 mm Low Energy Photon Ge(Li) Detector for rapid instrumental NAA. Preliminary results show the posslbility that many other elements with nuclides having low energy x-rays can easily be analyzed in coal using the LEPD gamma detector. (auth)
